
Dr. Janghyo Yoo was born in Suwon, South Korea and earned a Bachelor of Music from Suwon University and Kookmin University. He studied Piano Performance with Dr. Ivo Kaltchev, earned a Master degree and Doctoral degree at The Catholic University of America. Throughout his career he has performed in numerous chamber and solo recitals in classical music and his chamber group “Eclat Trio” recently got 1st prize on American Protégé International String Competition. Not only classical pianist, but he is also an accomplished jazz and rock pianist. Dr. Yoo is an active accompanist throughout the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia area in events such as the Youth Orchestra competition and the Music Theater Workshops. He has been playing for 10 years as a pianist for CUA Music Theater as a rehearsal pianist and co-musical assistant director. (Finian’s Rainbow, Drowsy Chaperone, Sweet Charity, Carousal, Most Happy Fella, Pippin, Little Women, City of Angels, Kiss me Kate, etc) Dr. Yoo is currently being as a music director at Messiah Presbyterian Church of Washington and a collaborative pianist at Geroge Mason University (The Reva and Sid Dewberry Family School of Music), YMIC (Young Muscians Inspiring Challenge). Also, Dr. Yoo is playing with Alexandria Singers and Amaris Trio as a collaborative pianist.
